Born in Louisianna, Robby  Albarado started riding at bush tracks when he was 12 and scored his first career win in 1990 at Evangeline Down. Since then, he has earned riding titles at the Fair Grounds, Arlington Park and Oaklawn Park. He fractured his pelvis in 2000 during a two-horse spill at Keeneland and as a result, he had to sit out for most of 2001. He is ranked ninth all time with his 556 wins at Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby. He was the winner of the 2004 George Woolf Memorial Award, awarded to him by his fellow jockeys. His best mounts include 2003 Horse of the Year Mineshaft, Joyeux Danseur, Quiet Resolve, Morluc, and Tijiyr (Ire). Albarado has ridden in eight Derbys, with his best finish coming on Steppenwolfer, third in 2006. He and his wife, Kimber, live in Louisville, Ky. and have two son, Kaden and Kash.
